Introducing Dr. Patel and Our Functional Approach to Health

Dr. Patel established Highbridge Health after recognising limitations within conventional medicine for treatment of chronic health problems. We solve for beyond your symptoms. We identify the root cause of disease and strive for a personalised solution that promotes natural healing. We understand that each individual’s path to us is different. Dr. Patel’s interest in functional medicine developed over a decade ago while studying Molecular Therapeutics at Barts and the UK, alongside her traditional medical school program.

While working as a doctor, it became apparent that many people suffer from chronic illnesses and struggle to identify and rectify the root cause, often leading to frustration and poor long-term management. This became increasingly evident during her training as a family medicine consultant, while completing hospital rotations, GP clinics in the NHS and private sector.

Inspired by how molecular technologies can treat chronic disease, Dr. Patel completed studies of the gut microbiome at the University of San Diego and Colorado, USA to better understand the connection between microbiota imbalances and disease development. To broaden her understanding of the influence of lifestyle, she obtained a Certificate in Lifestyle Medicine, recognising her commitment in implementing personalised strategies for patients to better control daily symptoms. While doing this she began to recognise the importance of offering a more personalised approach to patients and completed the DNALife Certificate by Nordic Laboratories, acknowledging the value that relevant and reliable testing can play in evidence based lifestyle interventions.
